Artist Spotlight

Michael Sky

Ocean City, Maryland

One of our own — an Ocean City reggae-rock songwriter with a growing catalogue and a guest list that reads like a who's who of American reggae.

Michael Sky is ours. He’s from Ocean City, and he’s spent the last few years quietly building the kind of catalogue most independent artists take a decade to put together — smooth, unhurried reggae-rock with songs about decisions, doubt, and getting things wrong before getting them right.

He started dropping singles in the early 2020s, one at a time, building an audience track by track before committing to anything longer. Those became a self-titled debut album in 2023, written and recorded at home with friend and producer Milo Didactah finishing them off. He hasn’t slowed since — Clown and Decisions both landed in 2025.

Worth starting with

  • “Clown” — comfortably his most-played, and a good introduction
  • “Music is the Way”
  • “Young Forever”, featuring Joe Samba
  • “Cheater”, featuring Nathan Aurora of Iya Terra
  • “No Need”, featuring Greg Shields of Kash’d Out

That guest list says something about how he works. For a home-recording artist from a beach town, he’s pulled in an unusual number of voices from across American reggae rather than staying in his own lane.

Closer to home

He played Crawl Street Tavern downtown in June 2024, opening for Kash’d Out as part of the Ocean Vibes Summer Concert Series — a full-circle booking, given that Kash’d Out’s Greg Shields sings on his record.

If you’ve been to a show in OC in the last couple of years, there’s a decent chance you’ve already heard him. Worth knowing he’s a neighbour.
